In the March 2012 issue of Model Aviation Magazine there is an article titled “Jim Martin: The Man Who Electrified RC”. The article was written by Jim Graham who is a friend of mine and  a former employee of the company that I founded, Hobby Lobby International, Inc.  I did not invent the idea of electric powered Radio Controlled airplanes, but I was the main promoter of the concept. Now more radio controlled model airplanes are powered by electric motors than by internal combustion engines. In the past the opposite was true.
