ANCESTRY INFORMATION: BELL AND MARTIN FAMILIES

I need a place to store ANCESTRY information that has been given to me by Lynda Bell. I have not met her but she found me somehow as she was researching BELL and MARTIN ancestry.  As you and I research our family histories we will find this following information from Lynda Bell very helpful, and also quite interesting. The info came in emails. I will just copy and paste them here.

INSTRUCTIONS:

These emails are in the opposite order.  The first one is at the END of this page.

The following are emails between Lynda Bell and me and this is simply a place to keep them as you and I organize them:

No. John Bell, son of James Bell and Maria Hawkins is not on your chart.

Francis Bell, your great grandfather was also the son of James Bell and Maria Hawkins, and he is on the chart I sent you. Francis was John’s brother.

Look back at the first chart. James Bell and Maria Hawkins had a son John Bell, my husband’s great grandfather. Interesting that you both have facial similarities.

You can see the genealogy on Ancestry with the link I gave you, or you can wait for the book, I am soon to write.

Let me send you a picture of my husband, when I can find it.

Francis Bell was John Bell’s brother, and your line. Francis, William Hume, Elinor.

Did you ever meet or know of your uncle Edgar Frank Bell and his wife Leona? They also lived in Chicago at 1449 Rosemont Avenue, and 6331 N. Wayne? He was a public school teacher.

No this would be William’s brother or your great uncle. I was in error earlier, forgetting the generations.

Just checking. You probably would not have met him, or you would have been too young.

Jim,

That certainly may be, however I do not think it was Nils Martens (1849-1926), but his father who was also Nils Martens.

Nils immigrated about 1869 when he was 20, and in the USA he was mostly a day laborer, not even a carpenter. I think it was probably his father.

If you look up Riga boat building on the internet, you will see that they built many many boats there. Lynda

Here is a blank tree for the other side of you tree. You should keep it in a binder with all of the stuff you accumulate on them.

Jim,

FYI. This is 78 Trinity Place, Buffalo, NY, where Jean Saunders Bell 1875-1943 grew up.

Also, I was curious who Mr. Frederick Stevens was and why he was mentioned in the marriage announcement. What I found out was that he was the Mayor of Buffalo at that time. Now how she was his niece, I can’t figure that out. And, where she traveled with him on many foreign trips…?  Lynda

Subject: About your blog

Hello Jim,

I happened upon your website when I was doing some genealogy research on the Bell family of Buffalo, NY.

If you still have your Ancestry account, you can log in and see our “Bell Family Tree. Here is the link:  ” https://www.ancestry.com/family-tree/person/tree/152891727/person/272104284936/facts . If not, attached is a family tree for your reference.

Hopefully it will give you some information you don’t already have on the Saunders and Bell’s family.

I have been researching the Bell family for about 19 years now, and I am still finding bits and pieces.

I plan on writing a book soon.

Enjoy, and write if you have any questions.
